The endowment benefiting UC San Diego provides support to keep our campus community working in the present and looking toward the future. With nearly 1,400 unique endowed funds and a total endowment value surpassing $2.5 billion in fiscal year 2021, we are confident that generations of our scholars, faculty, physicians, researchers and staff will continue to discover, create and better our world.

The UC San Diego Foundation and the Regents of the University of California take pride in their investment management philosophies. The endowment is managed with the objective of real value growth and protection of its purchasing power over the long term so that it will last in perpetuity. Our long-term focus and asset allocation enable conservative endowment payout from the corpus annually, providing vital resources for teaching, research, collaboration, health care and public service programs in accordance with donor wishes.
